IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain at a few places accompanied by heavy rainfall at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Rayalaseema from December 24 to 26. Additionally, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive light rainfall/snowfall till December 24.
According to IMD’s latest information and data, an intense western disturbance may affect Northwest India starting December 26. IMD has warned against a cyclonic circulation expected to form over southwest Rajasthan and its neighbourhood on December 27. Under its influence, the Western Himalayan Region may receive fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall from Dec 26 to 28. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is also likely to occur over northwest India plains & adjoining central India on Dec 27 and 28.
Cold Wave, Dense Fog & Ground Frost Warning
Severe cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in parts of Himachal Pradesh on December 22 and 23. Additionally, the cold wave is also expected to severely affect isolated pockets of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad till December 23.
IMD predicted dense fog conditions during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on Dec 24 and 25. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may face dense fog till tomorrow (December 23, 2024). Additionally, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Odisha is expected to endure similar conditions today.
Ground Frost conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Dec 22.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture into west central & adjoining central parts of South Bay of Bengal till December 23 (morning). They must also avoid going along & off south Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, north Tamil Nadu coasts on December 22.
IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi experienced a slight dip in temperature up to 8°C on Sunday (December 22). Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained 388 under the ‘very poor’ category at 7 am.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 7 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (390), Alipur (411), Rohini (426), ITO (384), Ashok Vihar (430), Wajipur (434), Shadipur (387), Mundka (428), Jahangirpuri (441), Narela (374), DTU (354), R.K. Puram (462), Anand Vihar (427), Pusa (379), and Punjabi Bagh (420).
