IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across the country over the next few days. The change in weather conditions comes after several regions experienced respite after days of intense heat. The Met Department has forecasted cooler days in several states, which will likely witness a continued spell of rain. The present weather conditions can be attributed to a mixed system – Western Disturbances, Troughs, and Cyclonic circulations.
Intense Downpours Likely In Multiple States
The regions set to receive torrential rains till the 7th of May include Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and East Madhya Pradesh. The other affected states, likely to witness intense downpours this week, are Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Kerala & Mahe, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

IMD Sounds Alert For Light Showers In Gujarat, Chhattisgarh And More
Significant changes continue to loom as the IMD has sounded an alert in several cities. Light showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, are expected to hit Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan during 6th-11th May.
Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada must brace for rain till 9th May; Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal & Sikkim till 7th; Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh till 9th May; South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal till this week.

A warning for thundersquall (gusting to 70 kmph) is very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh during 6th-8th May; Uttarakhand & West Madhya Pradesh on 6th; Gujarat till 8th; East Madhya Pradesh on 6th-7th; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema on 6th and 7th May.
