IMD Weather Update: Under the influence of severe cyclone Shakti and weather systems, multiple cities and regions across the country are expected to be hit by heavy rain and thunderstorms. The next 36 hours are said to be crucial for Punjab and Haryana as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intense rain activity in many districts.
IMD Issues Orange Alert In Punjab, Haryana
An orange alert has been sounded for eight districts of Punjab, including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Ferozepur. On the other hand, torrential rain warnings have also been issued for Ambala, Panchkula, Kaithal, Karnal, and Hisar in north-western Haryana. IMD Director Surender Paul said that the weather will clear up around October 8, but snowfall effects will be seen in the upper areas.
Rain To Lash Northwest India
A yellow alert has also been sounded for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Uttar Pradesh on October 7. Parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu-Kashmir, and Rajasthan will also continue to witness showers until this week.
West Bengal, Bihar Braces For Rainy Spell
According to IMD, Gangetic West Bengal braces for rain on October 7 and 8, while East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha until October 10. A wet spell is also expected over Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand during the next 2-3 days.
Weather Forecast For South Peninsular India:
The Weather Body, in its latest press release, forecasted rain over Arunachal Pradesh on October 6 and over Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during October 6-8. Rain is also set to lash the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal and North Interior Karnataka during the next 5 days.
