India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extremely heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and very heavy rainfall has been predicted for Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka. While North Interior Karnataka, Konkan and Goa are expected to receive heavy rainfall. Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued red alert in some parts of Tamil Nadu for the next 24 hours.
IMD in its latest post has warned of extremely heavy rainfall likely to occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. It has said that South Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe will receive very heavy rainfall today.

Situation In Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu received an intense downpour accompanied with lightning and thunderstorm yesterday. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin had also taken stock of the situation and ordered the closure of schools and colleges in several districts. Heavy rain lashed Chennai and adjoining districts causing waterlogging, traffic congestion and disruption in bus and railway services in the city. Several train services were cancelled and others were diverted. Four trains, Sapthagiri Express, Yercaud Express, Tirupati Express, Kaveri Express were cancelled yesterday due to waterlogging between Basin Bridge and Vyasarpadi railway stations. Chennai division of Southern Railway had informed the same. Along with that, eight domestic flights were also cancelled after enough number of passengers didn’t turn up for flight. These included flights of Akasa Air and Indigo airlines.
Weather Forecast For South India
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are expected to receive isolated extremely heavy rainfall today.
Very heavy rain will lash Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe today.
Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted for North Interior Karnataka today.
West India
Konkan and Goa are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall during 15-17th October.
Northwest, Central, Northeast & East India
No significant rainfall activity has been predicted over these regions during the week.
Delhi
Delhi will have a partly cloudy Sky with maximum temperature of 34°C and minimum temperature of 17°C. The real-time air quality in New Delhi as of now stands at 230 (poor) AQI.
Speaking to PTI yesterday, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, “The dust pollution level is entering the ‘poor category’. The reasons could be that the temperature is going down, there is no rain and winters are coming. In this weather, the centre’s air pollution control panel for Delhi-NCR has advised to implement GRAP 1.”

Warning For Fishermen
Squally weather with wind speed 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph will prevail over many parts of west central Arabian sea along and off Kerala coast, Lakshadweep, Comorin areas, over gulf of Mannar, along and off Sri Lanka coast, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh coasts, most parts of south Bay of Bengal, many parts of westcentral Bay of Bengal and few parts of eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
In view of this, fishermen are advised to not venture into these areas.
Northeast Monsoon
IMD in its press release stated that Southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the entire country on 15th October and Northeast Monsoon has commenced over the southeast peninsular India. It informed that a well-marked low pressure area lives over central part of South Bay of Bengal.
IMD also informed about depression over southwest Bay of Bengal which is likely to move west-north westwards and cross north Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore, close to Chennai during early morning of 17th October.
