IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rains Batter Multiple States; Northeast, Central India To Witness Intense Downpour Till July 14

Residents are advised to stay cautious and take precautionary measures to protect themselves from any rain-related incidents. Avoid traveling if possible, and keep away from objects that conduct electricity.

IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and red alerts across multiple states as rain continues to wreak havoc, causing traffic disruptions. While Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya woke up to a fresh spell of rain, Maharashtra witnessed severe waterlogging in several parts of Nagpur following incessant downpours. Meanwhile, the weather body has forecast that an active monsoon will prevail over Central India for the next 4 to 5 days.

Heavy Rains To Lash These Regions Till July 10

According to the IMD, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected to lash Madhya Pradesh from July 9 to 14; Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on July 9 and 10; West Bengal and Jharkhand on July 9; and Odisha on July 9, 13, and 14. Other affected regions include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, and East Rajasthan.

RMC Nagpur Warns Of Moderate Flash Floods

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nagpur has warned of a moderate flash flood in a few watershed areas and surrounding neighborhoods over the next few hours. The places likely to be impacted include Gondia, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Amravati, Bhandara, and Chandrapur. Incessant showers have severely affected many agricultural areas as well, leading to crop destruction.

Torrential Rain Expected In Gujarat Over The Next 24 Hours

Moreover, torrential rains are expected in Konkan, Goa, the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Kutch, and the Gujarat region over the next 24 hours. Northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh are also advised to closely monitor the IMD’s latest weather bulletin, as heavy rains are forecast to lash the region from July 9 to 14.
