IMD Weather Update: Heat wave as well as warm night conditions prevailed in the isolated pockets of several regions during the past 24 hours. Amidst the ongoing climatic changes, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted intense downpour, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at multiple places. The affected states, such as Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, are likely to be lashed by rain from the 23rd to the 27th of April.
Torrential Rain Over Nagaland, Mizoram
The Met Body has also predicted torrential rain in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on 23rd and 25th April. Northeast India, on the other hand, will receive light showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (Speed reaching up to 60 km/h) during the next 7 days. Similar conditions are also likely over Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Kerala & Mahe. Meanwhile, lightning is expected to hit the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and East India from 26th to 28th April.

Thundersquall Warning
Residents of Assam and Meghalaya are advised to stay alert as IMD has issued a warning for thundersquall (speed reaching 50-60 km/h) ahead. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to bring rain and thunderstorms over the Western Himalayan region from 24th April, 2025.
