IMD Weather Update: ‘Heavy Rainfall’ In Kerala, Tamil Nadu: Light Showers In Northeast

IMD has informed that there will be no significant rainfall over Northwest, West, East & Central India.

India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala & Mahe and Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon

On withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon, IMD in its press release said that The line of withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon continues to pass through 29°N/84°E, Nautanwa, Sultanpur, Panna, Narmada Puram, Khargone, Nandurbar, Navsari and 20°N/70°E.

It said that the conditions have become favourable for further withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and some more parts of Maharashtra during next 2-3 days.

Cyclonic Circulation

It also said that cyclonic circulation lies over South Kerala & neighbourhood and extends upto lower tropospheric level. Due to this influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Lakshadweep and adjoining Southeast & east central Arabian Sea around 09th October.

It has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka on 8th.

Northeast India

There will be scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over north east during the week.

Northwest, West, East & Central India

IMD has informed that there will be no significant rainfall over these parts of the country during the week.
