IMD Weather Update- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for several states, warning of heavy rainfall in parts of East and Northeast India, along with thunderstorms in various regions on Saturday, October 4. Several weather systems, currently active in the mainland are expected to affect the daily weather in various states. While, the southwest monsoon continues to withdraw, with its line passing through Veraval, Bharuch, Ujjain, Jhansi, Shahjahanpur, and parts of northern India, a depression lies over Odisha and Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, Cyclone Shakhti over the northeast Arabian Sea is moving northwest at a speed of 8 km/h. On October 3, 2025 at 5:30 pm, it was located about 280 km west of Dwarka and was expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of October 4. As an effect of the Cyclone, Maharashtra is going to witness heavy rainfall on Saturday.
IMD Weather Update- Heavy rain alert for Bihar, UP and other states
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, with the possibility of isolated extremely heavy showers in states like Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Additionally, several other regions including the Northeast, Central India, and parts of South India are likely to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over the next 24 hours.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to receive heavy rainfall today.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds have been predicted over East Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
Thundershowers have been predicted for Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, North Interior Karnataka, Odisha, Telangana, West Bengal and Sikkim.

The IMD has forecast partly cloudy sky during next two days in the national capital. The sky will remain partly cloudy today, while a spell of very light rain/thunderstorm/lightning towards afternoon/evening is predicted on October 5. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected in the range of 22-24°C and 34-36°C respectively over Delhi.
