IMD Weather Update: Hot and humid conditions were reported in different parts of the country this month. However, some states continue to witness light showers amid an increasing heat wave. Saurashtra & Kutch witnessed a surge in heat during the past 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a fresh Western Disturbance, likely to affect Northwest India from the night of 12th March 2025.
The western disturbance is expected to bring fairly widespread light to moderate rain/snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms & lightning over Jammu-Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh till 14th March. According to IMD, the above-mentioned states will receive isolated heavy rain and snow mid-week. The other affected states are Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, which are likely to witness showers on 13th and 14th March.
Forecast For Rain/Snow
The Met Body predicted a cyclonic circulation brewing over central Assam starting today. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain will occur over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till the 14th of March. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh will see heavy showers from 11th to 13th March.
Easterly Wave Activity
An easterly wave activity is expected to bring scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, & Karaikal on the 11th and 12th and over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, on the 11th to 13th. Additionally, isolated light/moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms & lightning is likely over South Interior Karnataka till 13th March. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over south Tamil Nadu on 11th and heavy rainfall over Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe on 11th & 12th March.

Hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail over Konkan & Goa on the 11th and over Coastal Karnataka on the 11th & 12th March.
Heat Wave Warning
A heat wave is very likely to prevail over Gujarat till the 12th; Southwest Rajasthan on the 11th & 12th; Vidarbha from the 11th-13th; Odisha on 13th and 14th March.
