India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rainfall likely to occur over Tamil Nadu. Whereas heavy rainfall is expected over Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra. Tamil Nadu received extremely heavy rainfall yesterday, RMC had issued red and orange alert for various districts; schools, colleges were shut. Severe waterlogging was reported form various places, visuals of car parked over bridge flyover to avoid damage had gone viral. Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu and Chennai districts received extremely heavy rainfall. IMD had stated that upper air cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal had triggered rainfall in Tamil Nadu.
South India
IMD has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over north interior Tamil Nadu.
Light to moderate rainfall over most places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is expected in south Tamil Nadu today.
South Andhra Pradesh & Rayalaseema will receive heavy rainfall at isolated places today.
Light to moderate rainfall and heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted over Kerala and south Interior Karnataka today.
West India
Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada are expected to receive scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall during next 5 days.
Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted for Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra today.
East India
Andaman and Nicobar islands is expected to receive fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall during the week.
Northwest, Central & Northeast India
IMD has stated that no significant rainfall will occur over these regions during the week

Delhi
Delhi will have mainly clear sky with maximum temperature of 34°C and minimum temperature of 18°C. The real-time air quality in New Delhi is 318 AQI, which comes under ‘very poor’ category and current concentration of PM2.5 is 146 (µg/m³). Delhi had hit ‘poor’ level in last 3-4 days. Yesterday Anand Vihar recorded AQI at 433, which falls under the “severe” category.
Sea Condition
IMD has informed that rough to very rough sea condition is likely to prevail over southwest & adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal and along and off Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh coasts till noon of 17th October.
Fishermen Warning
A warning has been issued by the IMD for fishermen. They are advised not to venture into Southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal till 17th October.
IMD further added that depression over west central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 22 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered over westcentral and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore by early morning 17th October.
