IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned against heavy rainfall and hailstorms over Northwest India on October 6, 2025. Several weather systems, currently active in the mainland, are expected to influence the routine weather patterns across multiple states. However, the southwest monsoon is expected to retreat further from parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra during the next 4 to 5 days.
Meanwhile, Cyclone Shakti intensifies over the Arabian Sea. It is likely to continue to move southwestward and weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm by Monday morning. The Weather Body said that it will recurve and move nearly eastwards over the west central and adjoining northwest Arabian Sea and weaken further into a depression by October 7.

East and Central India: Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms has been predicted over East India during the next 3 to 4 days. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will witness torrential showers on October 6.
Northwest India: The IMD has forecast heavy rain and hailstorms over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan on October 6. Minimum Temperatures are likely to fall by 4-5°C over Northwest India from October 8 during the subsequent 2 days.
Northeast India: Rain is set to lash Arunachal Pradesh on October 6; Assam, Meghalaya during October 6-10; Nagaland during October 6-11; Manipur on October 8 and 9; Mizoram on October 8.
South Peninsular India: Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, during October 6-9; South Interior Karnataka during October 8-10; Kerala on October 8 and 9. Additionally, strong surface winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) are likely to hit Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema during

The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky for the next two days in the national capital. A few spells of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected on October 6 and 7. Thereafter, the sky will remain partly cloudy on October 8 and 9 and will be mostly clear by October 10.
