IMD weather update: Heavy rain, gusty winds to batter multiple regions, yellow alert issued for Bengaluru

The monsoon will remain active across the country. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and avoid waterlogged areas.

IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for multiple regions. Despite a rise in temperatures, torrential showers lashed Uttarakhand, Sub-Himalayan
West Bengal, Sikkim, West Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. The downpour is set to continue over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, the Coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, and the southern interior of Karnataka.

Additionally, strong surface winds traveling at a speed of 30-40 kmph are likely to hit Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Rayalaseema during the next 5 days. Meanwhile, Bengaluru is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall over the next few days. The Met Department has sounded a yellow alert for the city and nearby districts on Thursday. The residents will witness cloudy skies throughout the day.

Monsoon To Remain Active Over THESE Regions

The monsoon will remain active over some parts of West India during the next four days, as isolated heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra. IMD has also indicated that Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh will experience light showers accompanied by thunderstorms today, on September 18.

Rain To Lash West Bengal, Bihar And Other Places

The continuous spell of rain will be witnessed over Arunachal Pradesh till September 19, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from the 18th to the 23rd. In its latest press release, IMD has said that intense showers will batter Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on September 18 and 19th, and Bihar during 18th-20th.

Meanwhile, Delhi will see clear skies during this week. No warning has been issued for heavy rain in the national capital. However, there is a chance that light rain will lash the city today, September 18, 2025.
