IMD Weather Update: Amid changing weather conditions, another western disturbance seen as a trough in lower and middle tropospheric levels is likely to bring isolated to scattered rain and snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region till Monday, January 20, 2025. Rain activity is further predicted to increase and reach peak levels on January 22 and 23, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The impact of rain is also likely to be witnessed in the northern states such as Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh from January 21 to 23. Additionally, thunderstorm activity is expected over isolated parts of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh on the 21st of January. Heavy rain may lash Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on January 18th and 19th and Kerala & Mahe on 19.
Dense Fog Warning
Dense Fog continues to blanket different regions across India, affecting visibility and impacting daily life. The affected states include Haryana and Chandigarh, likely to experience dense fog in some parts on the 18th and isolated parts on the 19th of January. Furthermore, thick fog will engulf Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West & East Rajasthan on January 18 and 19 while Himachal may witness the same on the 20th of January.

AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi experienced a much-needed respite on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after the air quality dropped to the ‘poor’ category. The city recorded an AQI of 249 at 6 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The Met Body forecasts partly cloudy skies in the city on January 19 and clear weather on January 20. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over northernmost states such as Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during the next week from January 21st to 23rd.
