IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rain Likely Across Several States; Tamil Nadu, Kerala Brace For Showers – Check Forecast

Although the IMD has forecast a marginal reduction in rain intensity from Friday onwards, residents are advised to avoid stepping out unless necessary and to plan their travel accordingly.

IMD Weather Update: Heavy rain continues to wreak havoc in multiple states, disrupting daily life and triggering traffic woes. While several low-lying areas remain affected by waterlogging, Delhi is expected to experience another spell of showers. Amidst this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast torrential rain in different parts of the country. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the next 6 to 7 days.

The Met Department has predicted a spike in monsoon activity across the eastern, western, and central regions. Incessant rainfall is also likely over Northeast and adjoining East India during the next 7 days. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Meghalaya will witness heavy showers on August 2 and 3, while Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar are expected to receive rainfall on August 3.

Alerts have been issued over multiple regions, including West Madhya Pradesh from August 3–5; East Madhya Pradesh on August 3 and 4; Jammu and Kashmir from August 4–6; Himachal Pradesh and Haryana from August 1–5; Uttarakhand from August 1–7; Punjab on August 1, 3, and 4; Uttar Pradesh from August 1–5; West Rajasthan on August 1; and East Rajasthan from August 3–7.

People in South India are also advised to prepare for potential delays and traffic disruptions due to torrential rains. Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema are expected to witness continuous showers until August 5. Due to prevailing western disturbances, cyclonic circulations, and a trough, isolated heavy rainfall is also predicted in Telangana over the next 7 days.
