IMD weather update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple regions in the country. The monsoon mayhem is expected to impact parts of East, North, West, and Central India, leading to travel disruptions and a potential flood-like situation. Residents are advised to exercise caution and only step outside if necessary. The regions on high alert include Uttarakhand and several northeastern states.
Heavy Rain To Lash Tamil Nadu, Andhra
According to IMD, a widespread monsoon activity will be witnessed over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, and the North Interior Karnataka today (September 20), Telangana on 21st and 22nd, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from 24th to 26th. Additionally, the Met Department has warned against strong surface winds, traveling at a speed of 30-40 kmph over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the next five days.
Northeast To Face The Brunt Of Rain
As per the latest press release, northeast states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall till September 23. Torrential showers are also expected to cause disruptions in the states of Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra during the next 4 to 5 days.
Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh Set To Witness Intense Showers
Isolated pockets over southwest Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are expected to experience intense showers. Residents in general are advised to avoid unnecessary travel to Chhattisgarh from September 24th to 26th, Odisha from 23rd to 26th September. Cyclonic circulation is likely to enhance rain activity in these states.
