IMD Weather Update: Frost and Freezing conditions in the northernmost parts of India have prompted authorities to issue alerts. Residents and travelers are advised to stay indoors to avoid significant health risks. Severe cold wave conditions are predicted in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on the 12th of January, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. With temperatures reaching freezing points in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, etc, no respite from ongoing weather conditions is expected there too as of now.
Rain/Thunderstorms/Hailstorm Alert
As a result of a fresh western disturbance, thunderstorm activity at isolated places over West Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, HP, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West UP, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh is predicted today. Additionally, isolated hailstorms are likely over West Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, south Haryana, East Rajasthan, and West MP on the 11th of January.
Another western disturbance is predicted to bring light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala & Mahe on January 13 and 14. Heavy rainfall will batter Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on the 12th of January, IMD forecasts.
Dense Fog Alert
According to IMD, dense fog conditions may pose significant challenges during late night and early morning hours in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan from January 11 to 13.
Additionally, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, and Himachal Pradesh are expected to witness foggy weather during this week. The Met Body has issued an alert for seven sister states (Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura) till the 13th of January.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Gulf of Mannar and the adjoining Comorin area on January 11 and 12.
AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi
A thick layer of blanket covered different parts of the national capital on Saturday morning. The Air Quality breached the 400 mark again, signaling severe pollution levels, according to SAFAR-India.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy skies accompanied by light rain/drizzle during the morning hours on January 11 and 12. The city experienced a dip in temperature up to 1°C during the past 24 hours. Additionally, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded in the range of 18 to 22°C and 6 to 8°C respectively.
