IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert For Next 2 To 3 Days Across Several Regions- Check Full Forecast

While West Rajasthan must brace for approaching isolated duststorms/thunderstorms on 19th April, residents in Odisha are advised to take precautionary measures till 21st due to thundersquall gusting to 70 km/h.

IMD Weather Update: While several states continue to experience the heat’s wrath, some regions are experiencing respite due to rain. During the past 24 hours, unseasonal rain lashed parts of north Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Meanwhile, significant weather changes are expected over the Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of northwest India on 19th and 20th April, 2025.

Heavy Rain Warning Over J&K, Himachal Pradesh

Amid challenging climate changes, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on 19th April. Thereafter, the Met Department has predicted light showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds gusting to 70 km/h over Jammu-Kashmir on 20th and 21st April. Residents in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will experience similar conditions accompanied by isolated hailstorms until 20th April.

The other affected states are Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, which are likely to receive light showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on 19th and 20th April. Residents must note that there are chances these regions are hit by strong surface winds reaching up to 50 km/h.

Rain To Lash Several Regions

Due to an upper cyclonic circulation and two troughs, several regions will see some respite from the ongoing heat over the next few days. On the other hand, the regions for which IMD has issued a heavy rain alert include Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim (19th April); Arunachal Pradesh (22nd to 24th); Assam and Meghalaya (21st to 24th); Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on 24th April. Under the influence of these systems, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning & gusty winds is also likely over Northeast and East India during the next 5 days.
