IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert Across Northern States; Check Temperature, Cold Wave & Fog Forecast

IMD has predicted severe cold wave conditions in a few northern states on December 28. A cold day warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh today.

IMD Weather Update: Heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms is expected to continue to batter parts of North India in the coming days. The affected places include Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has predicted isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning & gusty winds over East Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, interior Maharashtra, and
Gujarat on December 28.

Rain/Snowfall/Thunderstorms Alert

  1. Western Himalayan Region: Fairly widespread to widespread Rainfall/Snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms, and lightning on December 28, January 1 and January 2.
  2. Uttarakhand: Isolated Heavy Rainfall/Snowfall on December 28.
  3. Madhya Pradesh: Thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms on the 28th of December.

Cold Wave Alert

IMD has predicted severe cold wave conditions in a few northern states on December 28. A cold day warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh today.

IMD Issues Fog Warning

According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog conditions are expected to reduce visibility and cause significant disruptions during late night and early morning hours in Rajasthan on December 29. Additionally, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, and Meghalaya will experience similar conditions till the 30th of December.

Forecast Of Temperature

IMD stated that there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures during the next 48 hours and a fall by 2-4°C is likely over Northwest, West, Central, and East India during subsequent the 3 days.

AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi

There has been a rise in minimum temperature up to 03°C over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 22 to 24°C and 11 to 13°C respectively. Delhi woke up to ‘moderate’ air quality on Saturday as the AQI was recorded as 164 at 7 am.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 6 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (217), Alipur (164), Rohini (423), ITO (178), Ashok Vihar (194), Shadipur (225), Mundka (231), Jahangirpuri (198), Narela (176), DTU (147), R.K. Puram (195), Anand Vihar (252), Pusa (162), and Punjabi Bagh (214).
