IMD Weather Update: The weather is currently undergoing a significant transition as a heat wave is expected to intensify over the coming days in various regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heat conditions over Konkan & Goa from the 9th to 11th of March. On the 11th of March, Madhya Maharashtra is likely to experience similar conditions. Additionally, hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail over Coastal Karnataka and Konkan & Goa on March 9. Gujarat is expected to endure similar conditions from 9th to 11th March, while Kerala & Mahe and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 8th March.
Weather Systems, Forecast And Warning
A fresh western disturbance brewing over the Western Himalayan region is expected to affect different states from the 9th of March, 2025. Under its influence, scattered widespread light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely to impact Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from 9th to 13th March. Himachal Pradesh will receive rain from the 9th to the 13th, while Uttarakhand will receive rain from the 10th till the 13th of March. Additionally, Punjab will likely get isolated light to moderate rain on the 12th and 13th.
Here’s a breakdown of the incoming weather influenced by a trough running roughly along a90°E to the north of Lat. 25° in lower tropospheric levels.

Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim (March 8)

According to IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu Puducherry and Karaikal on 11th March thereafter.
