India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extremely heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and very heavy rainfall for Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka. Heavy rainfall is expected in Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra.
In its press release, IMD informed that Northeast Monsoon rainfall activity is like to commence over south eastern peninsular India around 15-16th October. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are expected to receive isolated very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during 15-17th October.
In view of the heavy rainfall, Tamil Nadu government has declared holiday for schools and colleges in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts today.
South India
Isolated very heavy rainfall has been predicted for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during 13th-17th October.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka are likely to receive rainfall today.
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Kerala & Mahe during the week.
West & Central India
Scattered to Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur over Gujarat during next 2 days. Scattered light to moderate rainfall has been predicted for Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh during the week.
Northwest India
No rainfall has been predicted for this region.
Northeast & East India
No significant rainfall has been predicted over these regions during the week.
Orange Alert For Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu RMC in its press release said that light to moderate rain will occur at most places accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning. Parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area are expected to receive rainfall today. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur over Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts and Karaikal area. Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Thanjavur districts are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain today. Orange and Yellow alert has been issued for several districts of Tamil Nadu.

Delhi
Delhi will have partly cloudy sky today with maximum temperature of 35°C and minimum temperature of 18°C. As per the latest data, Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi stands at ‘poor’ category of 175. Notably, this is third day of poor AQI in the national capital. The air quality has deteriorated after recent festivities that took place. Last poor air quality was reported in September 25.
Withdrawal Of Southwest Monsoon
IMD said that the line of withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon now passes through 28.5°N/89.5°E, 27.0°N/90.0°E Dhubri, Tura, 22°N/89°E, 20°N/87°E, Gopalpur, Raipur, 22.5°N/79.5°E, Khargone, Nandurbar, Navsari and 20°N/70°E.
IMD stated that Southwest Monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, entire West Bengal & Sikkim; some parts of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya; many parts of Odisha and northwest Bay of Bengal.
It said that Southwest Monsoon is likely to withdraw from remaining parts of the country during subsequent 2 days.
