IMD Alert: Delhi AQI Remains ‘Very Poor’, Extremely Heavy Rain Continues To Lash Tamil Nadu; Check Fog Warning

IMD has predicted dense fog conditions in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh's isolated pockets until Nov 30. Dense fog conditions will likely persist in the late night/early morning hours of Himachal Pradesh till November 29. Isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh may also experience the same till Dec 1.

IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning from November 28 and 30 over Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. Isolated heavy rain is also expected over Kerala & Maha from November 30 to December 2 and Andhra Pradesh & Yanam from Nov 28 to 30.

According to IMD’s latest information and data, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may experience heavy rainfall on Nov 30 and Rayalaseema from November 28 to 30.

IMD Weather Update: Forecast & Warnings

Weather Systems

According to the latest weather update, the deep depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards and lay centered at 8.30 am hours IST yesterday, November 27 over the same region near latitude 8.5°N and longitude 82.3°E, about 120 km east-southeast of Trincomalee, 370 km southeast of Nagapattinam, 470 km southeast of Puducherry and 550 km south-southeast of Chennai. It will likely continue to move north-northwestwards and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours.

Thereafter, it will continue to move north-northwestwards towards the Tamil Nadu coast skirting Sri Lanka coast during the subsequent 2 days. A fresh Western disturbance is also seen as a cyclonic circulation over northeast Iran and neighborhoods in lower tropospheric levels, IMD said.

Temperature Conditions And Forecast

IMD observed that no large Change in minimum temperatures is very likely over East India during the next 2 days and a fall by 2-3°C during the subsequent 2 to 3 days, Additionally, no large change in minimum temperatures is very likely over northwest and central India during next 5 days.

Fisherman Warning

IMD predicted stormy weather likely to prevail over different parts of the country. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas and return to coasts –

Southwest Bay of Bengal and along & off Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu coasts till November 30.
Adjoining areas of Westcentral Bay of Bengal and along & off south Andhra Pradesh coast till Nov 30.

IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi

Delhi experienced a fall in minimum temperature upto 2°C and slight rise in maximum temperature over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. Additionally, there will be a clear sky in the National Capital Region from Nov 28 to 30.

AQI: The overall AQI in Delhi stood at 304 under the ‘very poor’ category as of 6 am.
