IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported heavy rains over several parts of South India, including Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu due to the remnant of Cyclonic Storm Fengal on December 3. The met body has forecasted a reduction in the intensity of rain at isolated places over North Kerala starting today.
According to IMD’s latest information and data, a fresh western disturbance may cause isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall/snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region from Dec 7 to 9 and over the adjoining plains of Northwest India on December 8.
Weather Trends For Delhi, UP
According to IMD, the cold wave may engulf Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. Additionally, light rain or snowfall is likely over isolated places in Srinagar. The weather is expected to remain generally dry from Dec 4 to 7, reports added.
Outlook Of Temperature During Winter Season
During the upcoming winter season from December 2024 to February 2025, IMD has forecasted above-normal minimum temperatures over most parts of the country. Meanwhile, below-normal cold wave days are expected over most parts of northwest, central, and east.
IMD said that the monthly rainfall for December 2024 over the South Peninsular India consisting of five meteorological subdivisions – Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikkal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe, and South Interior Karnataka most likely to be above-normal.
Weather Systems
The well-marked low-pressure area over Coastal Karnataka and the adjoining east-central Arabian Sea
is likely to move west-northwestwards over the east-central Arabian Sea during the next 2 days.
IMD predicted that a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region from the night of December 7 and adjoining plains of Northwest India from December 8.

Temperature Conditions And Forecast
IMD observed no significant change in minimum temperatures likely over Northwest, Central, East India, and Maharashtra during the next 2 days and a gradual fall by 2-4℃ during the subsequent 3 days. Additionally, there will be rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3℃ over Gujarat Region during the next 3 days and a gradual fall by 3-4℃ thereafter during the subsequent 3 days.
No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over the rest parts of the country during the next 4 to 5 days.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture over Lakshadweep area till December 5 and over southeast
adjoining east central Arabian sea from December 4 to 7.
IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi experienced a slight rise in minimum temperature and a slight fall in maximum temperature over
the National Capital Region (NCR) during the past 24 hours. Additionally, IMD said there will be a clear sky in the National Capital Region from Dec 4 to 6.
AQI: Different parts of Delhi such as Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 250, Ashok Vihar 229, Alipur 198, Chandni Chowk 187, Jahangirpuri 259, Mundka 248, R.K. Puram 252, while Punjabi Bagh reported an AQI of 228 as of 7 am today.
