IMD Weather LIVE Updates: Heavy rain wreaked havoc in parts of central and north India on Saturday, leading to traffic woes and severe waterlogging. Among the worst-hit areas were Himachal, where cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides significantly impacted daily life. At least 75 were killed in Himachal due to rain-related incidents. According to the India Meteorological Department, red and orange alerts are in place in several states due to extremely heavy rain in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Weather Body has predicted torrential rains in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Rajasthan. The sultry weather has caused discomfort to many, especially in Himachal’s Mandi district, as roads were blocked due to intense showers and landslides. Over the next 48 hours, heavy rains are expected to batter Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
The Met Department said that the southwest monsoon will remain active over the western Himalayan region and the plains during the next 7 days. Residents are advised to stay cautious and take precautionary measures to protect themselves from any rain-related incidents. Moreover, keep a close watch on IMD’s latest weather bulletin and take shelter in safe places. Avoid traveling if possible, and keep away from objects that conduct electricity.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan from July 6th to 11th; in East Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan on July 6th, 10th, and 11th; and in Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh between July 6th and 10th. Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will experience rainfall from July 6th to 9th, with very heavy rainfall specifically over Himachal Pradesh on July 7th and 8th. Additionally, Uttarakhand will see heavy rainfall from July 6th to 7th; Punjab and Haryana on July 6th and 7th; and East Rajasthan on July 9th, and 10th.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely at many or some places over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, and Telangana. Isolated to scattered rainfall, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Rayalaseema during the next 7 days.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, and the Gujarat region over the next 7 days. Saurashtra & Kutch may experience heavy rainfall between July 5 and 7, while Marathwada is expected to receive heavy showers on July 6 and 7.
Extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) is very likely at isolated places over the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 6th and 7th July.
