IMD Weather LIVE Updates: Several states across the country are experiencing a fresh spell of rain, with some regions facing heavy, incessant downpours, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Pre-monsoon activity has been observed in multiple areas, offering much-needed relief from the intense heatwave conditions. However, torrential rainfall has disrupted normal life in certain cities — notably Bengaluru, which has been reeling under extremely heavy rain for the past few days. Delhi on Wednesday experienced thunderstorm accompanied by rain and lightning.
South Peninsular India is set to witness an extended spell of active weather conditions this week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph, is expected over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka from May 22 to 27.
The IMD has issued multiple warnings for heat wave, hot and humid weather, and warm night conditions across several parts of the country. Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan from May 22 to 23. Heat wave conditions are also expected in isolated areas of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and East Rajasthan during the same period. Additionally, West Rajasthan may continue to face heat wave conditions on May 24 and 25, while South Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh are likely to be affected on May 22.

Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm likely to occur at a few places Dehradun, Paun, Nainital, Champawat, Almara, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand.

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced over some more parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives & Comorin area; South Bay of Bengal; some more parts of central Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeast Bay of Bengal.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through 5°N/60°E, 6°N/65°E, 7°N/70°E, 7°N/75°E, 10°N/81°E, 13°N/84.5°E, 16°N/88°E, 19.5°N/91°E and 23°N/95°E.
The IMD stated that the conditions are likely to become favourable for Monsoon onset over Kerala during next 3-4 days.

Satellite and Radar observations suggest moderate to severe thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, squally winds (50-60 kmph), ligh to moderate spells of raifnall (occassional intense spell of rainfall) likely to continue over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra (including Thane, Pune, Nagpur), Telangana (including Rangaredday, Hyderabad), extreme northwest and southeast Madhya Pradesh, south Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal (including Kolkata).

· Severe heat wave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan on May 22 and 23, and may continue on May 24 and 25. · Heat wave conditions are also expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and East Rajasthan on May 22 and 23. · Hot and humid weather is likely to persist over Odisha on May 22.
· Warm night conditions are expected in parts of South Haryana on May 22 and 23, Punjab and West Rajasthan from May 22 to 23, East Rajasthan on May 22.
The IMD has forecast fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) across Northeast India over the next seven days.

Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph, are expected across the region. Thundersqualls, with wind speeds of 50–60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph, are likely over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat, and Madhya Maharashtra until May 23.
