IMD Weather Highlights: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for the Delhi-NCR region, which includes Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad, due to incessant monsoon rains in North India. Today’s weather forecast in Delhi has warned of heavy rain.
Torrential rains in Gurugram have caused heavy waterlogging on roads and a long traffic jam, which is said to be about few kilometers long. The District Disaster Management Authority has issued an orange alert here and advised to keep schools, colleges and offices closed and work from home.
Similarly, Noida and Ghaziabad are also receiving heavy rains today. The weather department’s warning message has been extended to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, where a red alert has been issued in view of the possibility of very heavy rains and flash floods. An orange alert is currently in force in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the latest weather forecast, schools and offices may remain closed today in the affected areas for safety reasons.

In view of continuous rainfall, all schools in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad will remain closed on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The Ghaziabad district administration has announced the closure of both government and private schools. The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff members. Heavy rains lashed Ghaziabad and Noida on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for both districts.
School Holiday on 3 September 2025: The first week of September marked an unusual start for students across several states. Heavy monsoon rains led to the closure of schools, offering an extended break to students from regular academic studies. Delhi-NCR Weather: The rainy spell continued for the second consecutive day as heavy rain lashed Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, September 2. Visuals shared on social media platforms showed an intense downpour in Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and parts of Delhi. The water level of the Yamuna River crossed the danger mark after heavy overnight rainfall.
