IMD Weather LIVE Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for the Delhi-NCR region, which includes Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad, due to incessant monsoon rains in North India. Today’s weather forecast in Delhi has warned of heavy rain. The first week of September marked an unusual start for students across several states. Heavy monsoon rains led to the closure of schools, offering an extended break to students from regular academic studies.
It has been raining continuously in Delhi since Monday morning. By 12 noon, the water level of the Yamuna River had reached 204.87 meters at the Old Railway Bridge (ORB), which is very close to the official danger mark of 205.33 meters. Officials have warned that the river level could exceed 206 meters by Tuesday evening, which is considered a critical threshold. In view of this, precautionary measures have been implemented in low-lying areas.

The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir has issued a public advisory in light of the ongoing heavy rainfall that has led to rising water levels in various water bodies across the Valley including river Jehlum. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, rain is expected to continue until midday, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures to ensure public safety.
In a tragic incident linked to the severe weather, a woman and her daughter lost their lives when a wall of their house collapsed due to incessant rains in the Sunderbani area of Rajouri district during the night of September 2-3. Rescue teams swiftly responded to the scene, recovering the bodies from under the debris.
The districts of Kulgam, Shopian, and Anantnag in South Kashmir have been officially declared flood-hit in Kashmir Valley due to the relentless downpour that has led to rising water levels in rivers and streams. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, stay indoors, and heed safety advisories as more rain is expected throughout the day.
