IMD Weather Forecast: Delhi-NCR Sees Temperature Spike As Heatwave Looms

Delhi-NCR is experiencing a significant temperature spike as a heatwave looms over the region. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, forecasting heatwave conditions from April 7 to April 9.

Various places in India will be experiencing drastic changes to their weather patterns, with temperatures and heat-wave conditions rising rapidly in several states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued temperature and weather warnings. It has noted a gradual increase in maximum temperatures and will be due in parts of Northwest, Central and East India.

Heat waves to severe heat wave conditions, warm nights and hot and humid weather conditions are expected over the next 24 hours. States such as Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi-NCR. Over the past 24 hours, Delhi-NCR, have seen maximum and minimum temperatures increase considerably as well with daytime temperatures being well above normal.

Temperature Forecast

1. Gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over many parts of Northwest India, Maharashtra during next 3 days and fall by 2-4°C during subsequent 2 days.

2. Gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over many parts of central India during the next 3 days and no significant change during subsequent 4 days.

3. No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over many parts of East India during next 24 hours and fall by 2-3°C during subsequent 4 days and no significant change during subsequent 2 days.

4. No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over Gujarat state during next 3 days and fall by 2-3°C during subsequent 4 days.

Heat Wave, Warm Night And Hot & Humid Weather Warning

1. Heat wave conditions are likely to be isolated to some pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch, East Rajasthan during 07th-09th April with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch on 07th & 08th April.

2. Heat wave conditions are very likely at some/many places over West Rajasthan during 07th-10th April with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets during 07th-09th April.

3. Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Delhi on 07th & 08th; Haryana, Chandigarh, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region during 07th-10th; Punjab during 08th – 10th; West Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha on 08th & 09th; East Madhya Pradesh during 08th-10th April.

4. Warm night conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh during 07th09th; Saurashtra & Kutch on 07th & 08th April.

5. Hot & humid weather is likely to prevail over coastal areas of Gujarat State during 07th-10th and Konkan & Goa during 07th-09th April.

Past Weather In Delhi NCR

There has been a rise in minimum and maximum temperature up to 02 °C over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 38 to 39 °C and 19 to 22 °C respectively. The minimum temperature was near normal and maximum temperature was above normal up to 04 °C at most places.

Mainly clear sky conditions with predominant surface wind from the west-northwest direction with wind speeds less than 14 to 16 kmph prevailed during the past 24 hours. Mainly clear sky conditions with wind speed less than 08 kmph from the southeast direction prevailed over the region in the forenoon today.
