IMD Weather Forecast: Cooler Nights In Delhi-NCR, Stable Temperatures Elsewhere With Southern Heat Warning

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cooler nights in Delhi-NCR with stable daytime temperatures in the range of 28 to 35 degrees Celsius during May 2 to 5, 2025.

India is seeing a transition in climate variability, with varying temperature, and localized weather. A short-term decrease in maximum temperatures is expected over Northwest and Central India, while much of the remaining states of India are anticipated to have a prolonged stable temperature. Meanwhile, areas in South India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are prepping for hot and humid weather conditions.

In Delhi-NCR, impressive drops to minimum temperatures have occurred, as nighttime temperatures are cooler than normal, daytime temperatures slightly below normal, Winds variable with some mix of partly cloudy with some blue skies.

Temperature Forecast

1. Fall by 2-4°C in maximum temperatures likely over Northwest India during next 24 hours, no significant change for subsequent 3 days and rise by 2-3°C thereafter.

2. No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over Central & West India during next 24 hours days and fall by 2-3°C for subsequent 5 days.

Hot & humid weather is likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema on 02nd May.

Past Weather In Delhi NCR

There has been a fall in minimum temperature up to 08°C and slight rise in maximum temperature over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 37 to 38°C and 17 to 18°C respectively. The minimum temperature was below normal up to 05 -08°C and maximum temperature was below normal up to 01 – 03°C over Delhi/NCR.

Partly cloudy sky conditions with predominant surface wind from the east direction with wind speeds less than 25 kmph gusting to 74 kmph prevailed during the past 24 hours. Generally cloudy sky conditions with wind speed less than 14 kmph from the southeast direction prevailed over the region in the forenoon today.
