IMD Weather Alert: Northwest and Central India is bracing up for moderate rainfall, thunderstorm, hailstorm due to impact of western Disturbance on 27th and 28th December. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an active western disturbance which is very likely to cause light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm over northwest and central India. It has forecasted light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal on 27th December.

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and Snowfall is likely to occur over Western Himalayan Region today.

Isolated to Scattered rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds has been predicted over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada on 27th December.
Thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorms has also been forecasted for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat Region on 27th and Madhya Pradesh on 27th December.

Temperature, Cold Wave And Fog Forecast
IMD has said that a rise in minimum temperatures by about 2°C will be observed over Northwest India during next 3 days and gradual fall by 2-3°C thereafter.
No significant change in minimum temperatures has been predicted over Central India during next 3 days; whereas a fall by 2-4°C thereafter will occur.
No significant change in minimum temperatures likely over East India during next 5 days.
Rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over West India during next 2 days and gradual fall by 2-3°C thereafter.
Cold Wave Warnings
Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions will prevail over parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 29th and 30th December.
Dense Fog Warnings
IMD said that Dense fog conditions will prevail during late night/early morning hours in isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh on 27th, 29th – 31st December , Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh during 27th-31st , Assam, Meghalaya during 27th-28th, Odisha on 27th, Rajasthan during 28th-31st December.
Forecast For Delhi
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain accompanied with thunderstorm in the national capital today. It has issued yellow alert for thunderstorm and lightning. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain 20 and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.
