IMD Weather Alert: Rain & Thunderstorms Set To Sweep India; Fog And Cold Spell To Continue In February – Check Details

According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog is expected to continue during the night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh till 31st January. Travel disruptions are likely to pose challenges for commuters in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh until today.

IMD Weather Update: As fluctuating weather tightens its grip across India, various regions are set to experience rainfall accompanied by snow, thunderstorms, and lightning over the next few days. The weather patterns remain primarily influenced by two Western Disturbances, likely to bring scattered to widespread to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the northernmost states.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a cyclonic circulation over East Bangladesh is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya on 29th and 30th January. Under the influence of an easterly wave, South India braces for light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms & lightning.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal: 30th and 31st January

Kerala & Mahe: 30th January to 1st February

South Interior Karnataka: 1st February

Dense Fog To Blanket Uttarakhand, Punjab

According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog is expected to continue during the night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh till 31st January. Travel disruptions are likely to pose challenges for commuters in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh until today. Additionally, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and coastal Odisha will experience similar conditions till the 31st of January.

Cold Spell To Persist In February

Cold temperatures will likely add an extra chill to the air as February is expected to witness even colder conditions. Drop in temperatures will likely be seen across India, particularly over the northern states.

Delhi Records ‘Very Poor’ AQI

Residents of Delhi woke up to ‘very poor’ air quality on Wednesday, January 29. The overall AQI was recorded at 318 at 7 am today.

According to IMD, a decline in minimum temperature up to 2°C was witnessed in the national capital during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi were recorded in the range of 21 to 24°C and 6 to 08°C respectively. Delhi will experience clear weather on the 30th of January.
