IMD Weather Forecast: Delhi-NCR continues to face disruptions due to persistent rainfall. While the River Yamuna remains above the danger mark, streets in parts of Gurugram are still waterlogged following incessant rain. The situation is concerning in the villages of Gautam Buddha Nagar also, which are at risk of flooding.
IMD Weather Alert Highlights: North India is currently witnessing the monsoon mayhem. Heavy rain for the past few days has led to severe waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides in several regions. As incessant rainfall continues to wreak havoc, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an alert for heavy rain in multiple cities, including Delhi-NCR.
Authorities have warned of further risks in Delhi and the adjoining National Capital Region as nearby barrages continue to release excess water. The Vasudev Ghat area is currently flooded as the water level of the River Yamuna has risen. Additionally, traffic congestion and slow vehicular movement are being witnessed on Mathura Road amid continuous rainfall.
The Met Department has predicted heavy rain across East, West, Central, Northeast, and Northwest India. Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over the Gujarat Region (September 4-6); Saurashtra & Kutch (Sept 6), Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra on (Sept 7); Uttarakhand (Sept 3-9); Haryana, Chandigarh (Sept 4-9); West Rajasthan (Sept 5-8); East Rajasthan (Sept 6). The situation in Punjab is equally grim, as floods have displaced thousands of people and killed around 30.
