IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal from December 10 to 13. Additionally, heavy downpour is expected in isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam & Rayalaseema from December 11-13. According to IMD’s latest information and data, heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala & Mahe from Dec 12 to 14 and in South Interior Karnataka on Dec 12 and 13.

Snowfall/Cold Wave
Cold Wave: Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in the isolated pockets over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and West Uttar Pradesh on Dec 10 and 11. In Uttarakhand, cold wave conditions are expected on Dec 10, and in East Rajasthan till Dec 13. Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West MP, and West Rajasthan will face cold wave this week.
Snowfall: Himachal Pradesh witnessed its first snowfall of the season on Monday. This resulted in the closure of about 15 roads, including two National Highways, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). The snowfall is expected to continue in higher altitudes and cause disruptions in the coming days. Uttarakhand & Jammu-Kashmir were also seen covered in a sheet of snow yesterday.
Weather Systems
IMD said that a low-pressure area formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining east equatorial Indian Ocean is likely to move west-northwestwards and become more marked during the next 24 hours. It is expected to reach over the southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu coasts around December 11. The met body also warned against a cyclonic circulation which lies over Northwest Uttar Pradesh in lower tropospheric levels.
Temperature And Dense Fog Forecast
Dense Fog: IMD has predicted dense fog conditions during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura till December 12. Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh will experience similar conditions until today. Additionally, West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand is likely to experience dense fog on Dec 10 and 11.
Temperature: With the onset of winter, a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4℃ is likely over Northwest, Central, and East India during the next 3 days, and no significant change thereafter.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Southeast Bay of Bengal on December 10 and 11 and into the Southwest Bay of Bengal till December 12. Also, Fishermen must avoid going along & off Somalia coast on Dec 09 and to the Lakshadweep Sea, along and off Kerala coasts, Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area on December 12 and 13.
IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi experienced a slight rise in minimum temperature and a significant fall in maximum temperature up to 02°C during the past 24 hours. Additionally, there will be a clear sky in the national capital till December 12.
AQI: According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall AQI in Delhi stood at 220 under the ‘poor’ category at 7 am.
