IMD Weather Update: Northern India shivered due to severe cold wave conditions for the fifth consecutive day on Friday, January 3, 2024. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted cold day particularly in states like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, the met body has forecast chilling temperatures in the coming days amid thick dense fog.
Rain/Snowfall Alert
According to IMD, under the influence of a fresh western disturbance, the Western Himalayan region is expected to receive light isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall till January 4. Additionally, heavy rain/snowfall is also likely to lash Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad till the 6th of Jan, disrupting daily life.
Due to another western disturbance, the Northwest India will likely receive light isolated to scattered rainfall from Jan 4 to 6.

Ground Frost Conditions
Ground Frost conditions very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram until today.
Dense Fog Alert
According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog conditions are expected to cause trouble to the commuters during late night and early morning hours in Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on January 3.
Dense Fog conditions are also expected to impact vehicular movement in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from January 3 to 6.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture into Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin area till the 4th of January; along and off southern parts of southeast Arabian sea on January 3 and 4.
Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi experienced severe cold wave conditions for the fifth consecutive day on Friday. According to the India Meteorological Department, there has been a slight rise in minimum temperature and fall in maximum temperature up to 3°C over the national capital during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are in the range of 13 to 15°C and 6 to 8°C, respectively.
AQI: The overall AQI across the city stood at 348 under the ‘very poor’ category at 6 am on January 3. IMD has issued an orange alert for dense fog until today.
