IMD Weather Alert: India is bracing for cold and inclement weather conditions due to a Western Disturbance in the coming days. Under its influence, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall are expected over northern states. Himachal Pradesh is expected to receive rainfall on Thursday.
Forecast For Next 4 Days
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed about a fresh Western Disturbance which is likely to affect Northwest India from 18th January and another from 22nd January. Under their influence, rainfall and snowfall is likely over Western Himalayan region during 18th-22nd and rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on 21st and 22nd January.
While northern India faces effects of weather conditions amid cold wave, Southern India will also experience rainfall. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is likely at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during 18th-20th
Kerala and Mahe on 19th and 20th January; heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on 18th-19th and Kerala and Mahe on 19th January.
Forecast Of Temperature
Fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over Northwest India during next 2 days.
Gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over Gujarat Region during next 3 days.
No significant change in minimum temperatures over Central, East India and Maharashtra region during next 5 days.
Dense Fog Warnings
The IMD has predicted dense to very dense fog conditions during night/ early morning hours in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan on 17th January.

Dense fog conditions will continue in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on 18th; over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on 19th, 20th; Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during 17th-20th; West Rajasthan during 17th-19th; Uttarakhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha till 18th; Madhya Pradesh till 19th January.

Cold Day Warnings
Cold day conditions will prevail over Himachal Pradesh during 17th-18th and East Rajasthan on 17th January.
