IMD Weather Alert: Cold Wave In Punjab, Thunderstorms & Rain Across India From Jan 10-12; Check Statewise Forecast

Dense to very Dense fog Conditions will continue to prevail during night/early morning hours in parts of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh- Delhi and Uttar Pradesh till 10th January.

IMD Weather Alert: Cold Wave In Himachal, Thunderstorms & Rain Expected Across India From Jan 10-12; Check Statewise Forecast

IMD Weather Alert: Severe cold wave is going to grip North West India during 10th-12th January as a fresh Western disturbance and its interaction with easterly winds is going to affect the mainland. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its press release stated, that Western Himalayan region will witness Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall. While plains of Northwest India and adjoining central India are expected to receive isolated to scattered during the same period.

North India Braces For Cold Wave And Thunderstorms

Thunderstorm has been predicted over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan on 11th and over Uttarakhand on 11th and 12th January. Isolated hailstorm is also likely over Rajasthan on 11th January.

Weather Forecast For Southern India

While Northern India braces for cold wave and rain, southern states of the country will also witness significant changes in weather. IMD said that a cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and North Tamil Nadu. Under its influence, the states will see rainfall activity during 11 and 12th January.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning 11th and 12th.

Heavy Rain will lash Kerala and Mahe on 12th January.

IMD Weather Alert: Forecast Of Temperature

Fall in minimum temperatures by about 2°C likely over Northwest India during next 24 hours.

No significant change in minimum temperatures over Central India during next 24 hours.

Rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C over East India during next 24 hours.

Rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C likely over Maharashtra during next 3 days.

No significant change in minimum temperatures likely over Gujarat State during next 24 hours.

Cold Wave Warnings

IMD has issued cold wave warning for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab on 9th; Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 9th and 10th January.

Dense Fog Warnings

Dense to very Dense fog Conditions will continue to prevail during night/early morning hours in parts of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh- Delhi and Uttar Pradesh till 10th January.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till 09th January.

Himachal Pradesh, Bihar till 11th, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha till 10th January.

Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till 13th January.

Cold Day Warnings

Cold day warning has been issued for Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on 9th January.
