IMD Weather Alert: Cold Wave In Himachal, Dense Fog In Bihar; Rain And Snow Forecasted For Western Himalayas

IMD has said that cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on 23rd and 24th January.

IMD Weather Alert: The Western Himalayan region is expected to experience rainfall and snowfall on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department  (IMD), in its press release stated that Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation lies over different states of India, including Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. These weather systems are expected to being changes in atmospheric conditions. Under the influence of these systems, isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall is very likely over Western Himalayan Region on 23rd January. While, isolated rainfall is expected to lash Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh on 23rd January. Cold wave continues to grip northern India.

Dense Fog Warnings

Dense to very dense fog will continue to prevail during night/early morning hours in Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 23rd.

Rajasthan, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar will experience dense fog conditions till 24th; West Uttar Pradesh till 26th; East Uttar Pradesh during 23rd-26th January.

Cold Day Warnings

Cold day warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh and Bihar on 23rd January.

Forecast Of Temperature

IMD has forecasted rise in minimum temperatures by about 2°C likely over plains of Northwest India during next 24 hours

Rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over East India during next 3 days

However, no significant change in minimum temperatures will take place over Central India during next 48 hours.

Similarly, there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over Maharashtra during next 24 hours.

Gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over Gujarat Region during next 24 hours.
