IMD Weather Alert: As we welcome the New Year, a fresh Western Disturbance is set to impact Northwest India starting from January 4th, 2025, bringing rain and snow to the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that another fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from 4th January. The Western Himalayan region is expected to experience light to scattered rainfall and snowfall from January 1st to 3rd, with conditions intensifying from January 4th to 6th.
The western disturbance is very likely to cause:
Heavy rainfall/snowfall at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 5th January.
Plains of northwest are anticipated to receive light isolated to scattered rainfall during 4th to 6th January.
Forecast Of Temperature
There will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over the Western Himalayan region in the next 24 hours. However, a gradual rise of 3-5°C is likely thereafter.
No significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over plains of Northwest India during next 24 hours. Central India will also not observe any change in minimum temperatures over the next 5 days.
While the above-mentioned regions will not record any change, a fall in minimum temperatures of 2-3°C is likely over East India in the next 24 hours.
Fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3℃ likely over Maharashtra is expected during next 3 days.
IMD Weather Alert: Cold Day Warning
According to the IMD, cold day conditions are expected in parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh on 1st January.
Dense Fog Warnings
Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during late night/early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim 1st January; Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till 5th January.
Ground Frost Warnings
IMD has predicted ground frost conditions over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 1st January.
Weather Forecast For Delhi
Moderate fog has been forecasted for Delhi with maximum and minimum temperatures of 18 and 8 degrees Celsius respectively.
