The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert with a warning of moderate rain for Delhi and its surrounding areas. Rain is expected in areas like East Delhi, Central Delhi, South-East Delhi and Shahdara. Also, cloudy weather and thunderstorms are expected in the Delhi-NCR region. At present, the Yamuna river is flowing above the danger mark in the national capital.

Delhi’s weather was somewhat cold on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 30.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.9 degrees below normal. At the same time, the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.8 degrees, which was 2.7 degrees below normal. The humidity level reached 95 percent at 5:30 pm.
Air quality satisfactory
According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 73 at 6 pm on Saturday, which falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category.
According To CPCB’s AQI Classification:
0–50: Good
51–100: Satisfactory
101–200: Moderate
201–300: Poor
301–400: Very Poor
401–500: Severe
Monsoon fury continues in Himachal Pradesh, 320 deaths so far, loss of more than ₹3,000 crore
The situation in Himachal Pradesh is worsening due to continuous heavy rains. The incidents of cloudburst and landslides are increasing rapidly in the state. According to the report of the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), 91 flash floods, 45 cloudburst incidents and 93 major landslides have been recorded so far this monsoon, causing economic loss of more than ₹3,040 crore to the state.
At least 320 people have died and 40 are still missing in rain-related incidents from June 20 to August 30. The fresh rains have led to the closure of 842 roads, hampering relief and rescue operations.
The Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts in various districts regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall till September 1. An orange alert has been issued for Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur on August 31, while a yellow alert has been issued for other plains and mid-mountain areas including Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Shimla.
Heavy Rain Warning In Uttarakhand
Heavy to very heavy rain, lightning and thundershowers have been predicted at some places in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand today. There may be more than normal rainfall here in the first week of September, although its intensity is likely to decline from the second week. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in many parts of the state for the next five days. Citizens have been advised to be cautious, follow weather related instructions and stay away from water sources and landslide prone areas.
Heavy Rains Also Expected In UP, Haryana, Punjab And Rajasthan
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in eastern Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh till September 2. Also, a warning has been issued regarding the danger of medium to high level flash floods in some areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
