Due to heavy rains in many parts of the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a widespread rain alert for many areas. According to the forecast, heavy rains may occur in West, North-West, Central, and East India during the next 24 hours.
According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in various areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh between September 6 and 11.
There is a possibility of heavy rains in Gujarat between September 5 and 7, especially in Saurashtra and Kutch areas. At the same time, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in eastern Rajasthan on September 5 and 6 and in south-west Rajasthan on September 7.
Apart from this, heavy rains are also forecast in Himachal Pradesh (September 8–9), Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi (September 8–10), Punjab (September 10), and eastern Uttar Pradesh (September 10–11).
Heavy rains are likely in western Madhya Pradesh on September 5–6. Also, rains are expected in eastern Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh during the week. Heavy rains are expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 9 and 10. Rains may continue throughout the week in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Punjab, which was recently hit by heavy rains and floods, is now expected to get some relief as no rainfall warning has been issued for there.
The national capital, Delhi, is likely to receive thunderstorms on Saturday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius and the maximum around 34 degrees Celsius.
