The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert forecasting heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected across several cities, including Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands today.
According to IMD alerts, heavy Rainfall was observed in Karnataka, Saurashtra & Kutch, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Kerala & Mahe, and Telangana during past 24 hours.

Low-Pressure Formed Over East-Central Bay Of Bengal & North Andaman Sea
A low-pressure area was formed over the East-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Andaman Sea early morning today, October 21. It is anticipated to move west-northwestwards, intensifying into a depression by October 22 morning and into a cyclonic storm by October 23, 2024.
It is very likely to move towards northwestwards thereafter and reach northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha & West Bengal coasts by the morning of October 24.

According to a IMD press release dated October 20:
- Light to moderate rainfall at most of the regions and heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Odisha and coastal districts of West Bengal on October 23. Extremely heavy rainfall is also predicted at isolated places on October 24 and 25.
- Light to moderate rainfall across many places and heavy rainfall at isolated places is predicted over North coastal Andhra Pradesh on October 24 and 25.
