‘I’m India’s Daughter-in-Law’: Pakistani Citizen Seema Haider’s Emotional Plea To India As Pakistan Visa Ban Looms

Seema Hairder, fearing deportation, has made an emotional appeal to stay in India with her new family.

Seema Haider, a woman from Pakistan, left her husband in her country and came to India in 2023 to live with her lover, Sachin Meena. Now, because of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, she is scared that she might be sent back.

After a terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, earlier this week that killed at least 26 people, mostly tourists, India has stopped giving visas to people from Pakistan. It has also asked Pakistani citizens who are in India to go back to their country.

Lawyer Says Seema Should Stay in India

According to her lawyer, AP Singh, Seema should be allowed to stay in Inida because she is married to an Indian citizen.
“Seema is no longer a Pakistani national. She married Sachin Meena, a resident of Greater Noida, and recently gave birth to their daughter, Bharti Meena. Her citizenship is now connected with her Indian husband, and therefore the Centre’s directive should not apply to her,” Advocate AP Singh told PTI on Thursday.

India’s Actions After Pahalgam Attack

After the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, India has taken strong steps against Pakistan. This includes asking Pakistani citizens in Inida to leave by April 27. Those in India on a medical visa have until April 29, when their visa will expire.
