Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has emerged as the leading university in India for sustainability. The QS ranking was announced on Tuesday. It has jumped from the rank of 255 to 171 globally, as per QS Ranking.
Indian Insitute of Technology, Kanpur, and Delhi ranked under the top 100 in the world due to environmental impact.
Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru has been featured in the top 50 in the world for environment education.
According to media reports, 34 institutions have improved their ranking, and eight institutions have continued to hold their positions.
The ranking list of 2025 includes over 1,740 universities which are from 107 countries. These institutions have shown growth from their last year’s report. Last time it included 1,397 universities from 95 different locations.
According to media reports, Toronto University has bagged the top rank this year. Following this comes Zurich in the second spot.
IIT, Delhi has secured the 55th position, whereas IIT, Kanpur has secured the 87th position on the list. These two universities secured the spot among the top 100 institutions globally.
Similarly, JNU also got featured on the list. It got the 522nd spot in the list. Apart from the several other institutions also got featured on the list, like Jamia Milia Islamia with 737 rank, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology with 545 rank, Chitkara with 811 rank, Panjab University with 749 rank and Lovely Professional University with 749 rank.
New Institutions Featured On The List
In India, a total of 78 universities were featured in the QS Sustainability ranking list for 2025. As per the ranking list, 9 universities have increased their ranking. Also, 21 new institutions were featured on the list.
