India would join the club of nations where an on-road and vertical take-off and landing air ambulance would become a reality. IIT Madras-based electric aircraft startup, e-plane company, will deliver 788 air ambulances. A Deal worth $1 billion has been inked in this regard.
India’s pioneer e-ambulance firm ICATT will receive 788 Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing air ambulances (eVTOL), which will be distributed to each district of the country. The deal is significant because it will offer help during health emergencies without facing vehicular traffic. As the air ambulances are electric, the environment will not be affected.
The country’s eVTOL has become a highly attention-grabbing segment, and the government is also keen to offer air transportation by easing air space for air ambulances and drones. Several other startups are also going to offer eVTOL. The companies are Archer Aviation, Sarla Aviation, and ePlane Company.
On the other hand, App-based cab firm, Uber is also experimenting and developing air taxi services to offer commuters a ride without traffic congestion.
The E-plane company is looking to start delivering air ambulances in the last quarter of 2026. The company’s senior official said the e-plane will have a capacity to produce 100 units each year.
