Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday rejected remarks made by Minister KN Rajanna regarding political changes in the state. He stated that Rajanna only hinted at the possible development, but didn’t mention anything specific. Siddaramaiah clarified that there is no internal dispute in the party and Rajanna’s statement should be ignored. Notably, Rajanna’s recent statement about state politics has fuelled internal strife in Karnataka Congress over power dynamics. However, while speaking to the reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah dismissed Rajanna’s statement.
“There is no internal dispute in the party. Minister KN Rajanna has said that there may be developments in state politics. He said that he did not say that something like this would happen. It would be better to ignore his statement,” stated Siddaramaiah.

What Sparked Controversy?
Speculation over internal rift deepened after Karnataka Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna sparked controversy on Thursday by claiming the rise of multiple power centres within the party’s state unit.
Without naming anyone, Rajanna said, “Between 2013 and 2018, there was just one power centre. Today, there are one, two, three and several power centres.” He further added that when these power centres multiply, the “push and pull” within the party also intensifies.
In his recent remarks, hinting at political changes, the minister appeared to take a veiled swipe at Siddaramaiah’s leadership, stating that many feel the Siddaramaiah of today is not the same as the one between 2013 and 2018.
While this is not the first instance when Rajanna’s action has hinted at trouble within the state Congress and his disappointment with the party. Earlier in March, his sudden absence from an important Apex Bank meeting had drawn attention. Notably, Rajanna was supposed to chair the meeting attended by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Congress MLAs, and other officials. However, he skipped the meeting last minute.
