New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to be attending the President’s G20 dinner. The event could mark his first encounter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi since July 2022.
The G20 Summit, scheduled for September 9-10 in Delhi, will welcome top leaders from various countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union. The summit will be hosted at the recently inaugurated Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, which has been elegantly prepared to receive foreign delegates.
President’s G20 dinner
The President’s G20 dinner, set for Saturday, will take place in a state-of-the-art $300-million venue designed in the shape of a conch shell. The menu will feature Indian cuisine, with a particular emphasis on millets, a grain promoted by the country.
To enhance the grandeur of the event, a three-hour concert showcasing a variety of classical and contemporary music styles will be performed for the world leaders.
The President’s G20 dinner has become a focal point of political controversy due to the invitations referring to President Droupadi Murmu as the ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ‘President of India.’ This departure from the customary terminology has drawn strong criticism from opposition parties, who allege that the government is attempting to change the country’s name to Bharat.
Amid the ongoing dispute, the government has also extended invitations to former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda. However, it remains uncertain whether they will accept the invitations to the dinner, which is expected to host approximately 500 business leaders. The situation continues to evolve as these developments unfold.
