JDU’s newly elected MP Devesh Chandra Thakur recently said he was upset about not receiving votes from Muslims and Yadavs, so he would not work for them. However, after the controversy, he has now issued a clarification.
Devesh Chandra Thakur clarified that he will work for everyone, including Yadavs and Muslims. He said his comments were misrepresented and emphasized that he has always worked for all communities and will continue to do so. He added that when leaders don’t serve the people, the public speaks out against them.
He explained that he was expressing his frustration over not receiving votes despite his continuous efforts. He stated that he doesn’t need any party to certify his secularism, as he has always been secular. He was disappointed by the lack of support for his work, which led him to share his feelings, but they were misrepresented.
A JDU Muslim leader commented on Devesh Thakur’s statement, saying it hurt Muslims and that he shouldn’t have made such a remark. The leader emphasized that Thakur is an MP for all communities and should have assured them that he would support and work for everyone. Muslims have been hurt by his words.
While speaking at a program in Sitamarhi, Bihar, Devesh Chandra said that in his 22 years in politics, he worked the most for the Yadav and Muslim communities. However, these communities did not vote for him in the recent elections without any reason. He stated that if they come to him for help in the future, he will serve them tea and snacks but will not assist with their work. Those who come should enjoy tea and snacks and leave without expecting any help.
Devesh Chandra Thakur won the Lok Sabha elections from Sitamarhi. He is also the Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council.
