New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Thursday reacted to India’s defeat against England in the T20 World Cup semifinal.

Batting first, the Indian team scored 168 runs, chasing the target, England batted vigorously and won by 10 wickets in just 16 overs.

Reacting to the defeat, Tharoor said that he does not mind the loss, but he does mind India not showing up today.

“I don’t mind India losing: victory and defeat are part of sports. But I do mind India not showing up today,” the Congress leader tweeted.

Tharoor’s reaction came just as England was chasing down the target of 169 runs without losing a wicket in 16 overs at the Adelaide Oval.

India batted first and posted 168 for six after Virat Kohli’s 40-ball 50 and Hardik Pandya’s 33-ball 63.

England’s Alex Hales and Jos Buttler hammered unbeaten half-centuries to set up a final against Pakistan in Melbourne.

Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted the Indian team seemed like a different side between the group stage of the tournament and the knock-out phase.

“As one-sided as they get,” Bhogle said of the match.
