New Delhi: Two days after resigning as the chief of Nationalist Congress Party, Sharad Pawar met protesting party members today in Mumbai and said that he took the step for the future of the party.
He told the party workers that a new face should lead the NCP.
” I believe that there should be a new face for the Party. A committee has been formed to take the final decision very soon,” Pawar told the protesting party members.
They were protesting against his decision to resign from NCP president post.
“I respect your sentiment. I should have discussed my decision with all o you But I know you all would not have allowed me to step down” he told his supporters
He informed that party colleagues from outside Maharashtra will meet him on Friday to discuss the same issue.
” I will take a final decision in about two days,” said Pawar.
Earlier, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar announced his retirement from the chief post of the party; founded in 1999 by himself.
Pawar’s decision sent shockwaves throughout the nation that made his dire supporters unhappy, who hit the roads within hours to plead that Pawar should rethink his decision.
Since then party workers across the state have been demanding Pawar’s to change his mind.
