The incessant rains on Thursday disrupted the lives of people in Hyderabad. Heavy rains caused damage to a 430-year-old historic monument, Charminar. The stucco work of the historic Charminar monument fell due to torrential rains.
The parts of the structure fell near Bhagya Laxmi temple. The officials rushed to the spot to assess the damage. This is not the first time the monument has sustained damage due to weather-related issues.
Telangana CM directs officials
Meanwhile, in a statement, the Telangana CMO said , ” Following a heavy downpour in Hyderabad City today (Thursday), Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy ordered the officials to be on high alert. The local civics authorities have been asked to take necessary relief measures and ensure people do not face any hardships due to heavy rain in the city. Reports say that low lying areas have been flooded due to sudden downpour in Hyderabad.”

“The Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to review the situation from time to time and take appropriate measures to avoid inconvenience to the dwellers in the low lying areas. The CM ordered the GHMC, Police, HYDRAA and other departments to work in coordination to ensure that there is no waterlogging on the roads, traffic jams and power outages. The Energy authorities are also instructed to resolve power supply problems and restore the services immediately, the Telangana CMO further added.
Authorities asked to take up necessary relief measures
“The Civics Authorities have been asked to take up necessary relief measures in the flooded colonies in the low-lying areas and the traffic police address vehicular traffic problems in rain hit areas to reach the commuters of their homes early. CM Revanth Reddy asked the officers and staff of various departments to support each other in the relief measures being taken up in waterlogging areas. The District Collectors, police officers and officers of all departments are also put on high alert in the wake of heavy rains, gusty winds and hailstorms reported in many districts,” the CMO added.
