Hyderabad: IAS Officer Transferred Following Demolition Near Jagan Reddy's Residence

Hyderabad: The GHMC Zonal Commissioner for Khairatabad, Bhorkade Hemant Sahadeorao, was transferred on Sunday, following the demolition of an illegal security outpost near former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s residence in the city.

Hyderabad Commissioner Amrapali Kata expressed concerns about the demolition, which was started on the orders of a minister without informing higher authorities. As a result, Hemant has been instructed to report to the General Administration Department (GAD).

Officials suggested that neither the former Chief Minister nor the intelligence agencies were informed beforehand about the demolition of the structures in the Lotus Pond area.

However, a senior official from GHMC’s town planning department stated that they notified the individuals at Jagan’s residence six months ago to remove the structures for footpath construction.

We have asked them multiple times to take down the structures so that we can build the footpath. Residents of the colony have also lodged complaints about the encroachment on the footpath, which has inconvenienced road users,” the official informed news agency PTI.

In response to the issue, sources from the YSR Congress party informed PTI that the structures were temporary and built to provide convenience for security personnel during rainy and summer seasons.

Significantly, the demolition occurred shortly after Jagan Reddy’s Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) suffered a significant defeat to TDP’s Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA in the recent Assembly elections.

TDP secured 135 out of 175 seats, with Jana Sena Party winning 21 and BJP securing 8, making the total alliance count 163. YSRCP managed to secure only 12 seats.
